Is a Digital Marketplace Legit? How to Check Before You Pay
Affiliate disclosure: some links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
People often search "is this site legit?" before buying digital goods. No guide can promise a site is safe, but a few checks will show you how it protects buyers. You can apply them to any marketplace, including the ones we link to. We are an independent affiliate site and may earn a commission, so verify everything yourself.

Check how payment is handled
Look for a checkout that holds your payment while the seller delivers, usually called escrow, and read how long money is held and when it is released.
Treat any request to pay outside the platform, by bank transfer, crypto or chat app, as a stop sign. Those payments are not covered by the platform's buyer protection.
Check the rules and the dispute process
A trustworthy marketplace publishes its terms, refund rules and dispute steps in plain language. Read them before your first order, not after a problem.
Note the deadlines. Many platforms limit how long you have to open a dispute or must confirm delivery in a set time.
Check the company and the reviews
Look for a named company, a contact route and a history you can verify. A site that hides who runs it is harder to hold accountable.
Read independent reviews on several sites and look for patterns, such as the same complaint repeated, rather than a single score. Be aware that reviews can be incomplete or promoted, including by affiliates like us.
Start small and keep records
Make a small first order before a big one. Screenshot the offer, order page and chat, and keep chat on the platform.
Never share your password or login codes with a seller. If a seller asks, walk away.
Risks to understand
- No checklist makes a purchase risk-free. Marketplaces, sellers and game rules all change.
- Using a marketplace does not change a game's terms of service. Check the game's own rules for what is allowed.
- Our guides are general information, not a guarantee about any specific site.

Can you tell a marketplace is safe from one review?
No. Look at several independent sources and focus on repeated patterns.
What is the single best sign of a safer marketplace?
Payments held in escrow with clear, published dispute rules, plus a seller you can reach in the order chat.
Are you affiliated with the marketplaces you link to?
We are an independent site that earns a commission on some links at no extra cost to you. We are not owned by or part of any marketplace.
